“Country Fresh” is an original watercolor painting by Nicholas Santoleri.
This painting has also been reproduced in a limited edition signed and numbered reproduction.
The Strode’s Mill historic district is located at the crossroads of Lenape Road and Birmingham-Sconnelltown Roads near West Chester, PA. Long on my list of places that I wanted to paint, I was prompted by the partial collapse of the Strode’s barn to get working on this piece. My painting is a nostalgic look at the Barn and the Mill, a site familiar to generations of people in Chester County. The Strode’s barn, part of the pork processing business, was well-known for its sign advertising “Country Fresh” sausage and scrapple. The field stone grist mill building was built around 1721, and is one of the oldest surviving mills in the county. My focus, as always, is in portraying the beautiful landscapes that captivate us every day. Facebook has become a valuable tool for the development of my paintings. Thank you, to all of the friends on Facebook, for your suggestions and comments while this, and other paintings are in progress. Your suggestions are so very appreciated!!
