On Walden Pond is a view of the woodland retreat of one of America's best loved philosophers and naturalists, Henry David Thoreau. This scene of the isolated cabin, home to the writer and traveler during his two year stay on Walden Pond, reflects the spirit of Thoreau's simple lifestyle. The painting captures the sense of solitude and independence that Thoreau experienced and wrote about in his masterpiece, Walden. The Walden Woods Project is working to protect the simplicity and tranquility, experienced by Thoreau in these historic woods, for future generations to explore for themselves.

     The Walden Woods Project is a nonprofit organization founded in April 1990 by Don Henley ( Grammy Award-Winning recording artist and formerly with The Eagles) to preserve the historic and environmentally sensitive land near Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. Parcels of historic Walden Woods surrounding Walden Pond, the famed retreat of Henry David Thoreau, are being threatened by the development of condominiums and an office park.

     This edition is rather unique, in that out of the 800 print edition, the first 400 were co-signed by Don Henley to benefit the Walden Woods Project. These 400 prints were sold for $200 exclusively through a promotion to aid in raising funds for this critical land preservation effort ($100 from each co-signed print went directly to the project). The remaining 400 prints, were not co-signed, and sold for $100 ($50 from the sale of each of these prints went directly to the project when purchased through the Walden Woods Project).

     This limited edition print was reproduced from the original watercolor painting of the same name, using the highest quality craftsmanship and printed on fine neutral pH balanced paper.
