It is said that Lake Afton was named from the poem Afton Waters
by the Scottish poet Robert Burns ( 1759-1796)
"...Flow gently sweet Afton I'll sing thee a song"
Lake Afton is a man-made lake dating back to the early 1700's. It was built to serve as a water source for the Grist Mill. Lake Afton and the Old Library are the scenic center of historic Yardley Borough.
